MAPO was born in 1985. The Association has continued to grow and to remain active and relevant, providing opportunities to its members and eye care practitioners to upgrade knowledge and skills through various activities connected to the optical industry such as optical fairs, exhibitions, educational conferences and seminars, monthly meetings and forums, which all translate to providing better care and service to the public. Helmed by a group of professionals, it was formed with the following objectives:

• To raise or improve the standard of practice in order to project an image of professionalism.
• To protect the overall interest of MAPO members.
• Strive to provide the best primary eyecare to the public.
• To provide continuous education to all optical practitioners.
