MAPO FAIR 2012

Once again this year, Malaysia’s biggest optical fair, MAPO’s 17th Optical Exhibition, was held on 21 and 22 April at the Kuala Lumpur International Convention Centre (KLCC). The Guest of Honour, YB Dato’ Tan Lian Hoe (Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism of Malaysia) officiated the grand opening and toured the exhibition venue.

Mapo Fair is indeed a significant platform and opportunity provider, for the promotion of new and existing products, to generate leads and drive incremental sales. As an incentive to encourage more ECPs and exhibitors to the fair this year, MAPO created a buzz through its attractive lucky draw prizes and, for purchasers at the 2-day Fair, the opportunity to drive away the GRAND PRIZE of a Perodua MYVI !!

The Fair was opened to the public to enlighten and educate them about genuine branding and leading optical trends. Public awareness is important as the public are end-users and will eventually affect the whole retail business in Malaysia. The response was very encouraging and MAPO planned to involve more members of the public in the coming years.

On the first day of the Fair, MAPO also celebrated its 27th anniversary at a Gala Dinner. The theme being “The Amazing Zone” – for the very first time, committee members performed by representing various famous Super Heroes. The audience appreciated being visually entertained by the committee, coming on stage gamely dressed in colourful costumes.

Besides singing and dancing bands, the performance that impressed guests the most was Sand Art, where the artist incorporated interesting stories and milestones of MAPO into his impromptu creations.

The dinner ended with VIP guests getting up on stage to join the committee in promoting “One Malaysia”.
